the curious case of benjamin button amazed me for two reasons. the first, obviously that the movie was beautiful. very poignant and thought-provoking. it first seems to be a bit tragic, that the character of benjamin (brad pitt) ages backward, but when digging deeper i realized that it was an incredibly fulfilling love story.
but i was also amazed at the visual effects. honestly, i sometimes got distracted during the movie, wondering how in the world they got brad pitt to look so realistic at ages 87, 80, 70, 60… etc. i found this neat video of director david fincher and brad pitt discussing the lengths they went through to achieve that feat. the make-up team was actually nominated for an Academy Award, which i am sure they will go on to win. watch the video, and make sure the see the movie!
