this afternoon i witnessed, for the very first time, a high-speed chase. well, in this case it was a “u-haul” chase. i just so happened to flip on the tv when this hilarious event started to unfold. over the next hour and a half, i kept one eye on my work and one eye on the tube, waiting to see how this would turn out for the genius behind the wheel!
turns out, a blond woman in a possibly stolen a u-haul truck led the police on a wild goose chase throughout socal. from the high desert city of palmdale, she began weaving in and out of traffic on the 10 freeway. which, from experience, is not the safest freeway to begin with! flash forward two hours later, she led police all the way to my alma mater, pepperdine university, on pacific coast highway. coming up on ventura county, it was the empty gas tank that slowed her down to a stop… finally.
and here comes the best part: she gets out of the truck and starts running. yes, running, with helicopters and mobs of police right behind her. i can’t wait to find out this girl’s story. here’s the vid, watch and i’m sure it will give you a chuckle!

I LOVE high-speed chases! They are totally the funniest real thing that can happen on TV. I hate to miss one, and am so jealous that you got to watch it. It just kills me because, how do you cover one? They get retired police chiefs and stuff to talk about what the cops are gonna do, but NOBODY ever knows why the person is running. So basically, it’s two hours of speculation, waiting for gas to run out. Then, when you’re the driver, it’s so odd. You have to know you’re on national TV! I gotta tell you, if anything really horrible ever happens to me, you can GUARAN-DANG-TEE I will go on a HSC. Guarantee.
Great post! I have only one wish. I wish I was in that white car at the end. Amazing front row seat! I would have loved to see a blond woman running full speed at me and then tackled by the police. Amazing.
