5:04 – ricky on sex & the city 2: “girls, we know how old you are.”

5:48 – there ya go, burlesque. music is your thing… NOT the best picture category.

5:50 – …and the social network takes home it’s first award of the night! (best musical score for a film) will it win best picture as well?

5:55 – wait, why is justin bieber at the Golden Globes?! and i love that his similarly-aged co-presenter hailee steinfeld is taller than him. oh, puberty.

5:59 – toy story 3 wins for best animated feature film! ts3 director to presenters: “were you guys even born when the first toy story movie came out?”

6:00 – words can’t describe how much i love robert downey jr.. “i don’t know if an actress can do her best work until i sleep with her.”

6:03 – called it! annette bening wins best actress in a comedy/musical film for the kids are all right. would you just look at that hair of hers? not her best look.

6:25 – thank you steve carrell & tina fey for bringing some laughs! whew, we needed it.

6:26 – best screenplay goes to aaron sorkin for the social network! tina fey: “thank you for ruining our ability to interact in real life.”

6:28 – i love that sorkin did a little shoutout to real-life mark zuckerberg, calling him a true genuis & altruist. he didn’t deserve the negative light that was cast upon him!

live on the red carpet: the 2011 Golden Globes

award season is here! let’s kick it off with the 2011 Golden Globes… one of the most fun award shows all season. read below for live coverage of the red carpet!

3:00 – is it weird how excited i am?

3:02 – oh ryan seacrest. i like you, but not nearly as much as you like yourself.

3:03 – okay, wow. olivia wilde is looking FLAWLESS. great color, an even better fit. do i already have a “best dressed?”

3:05 – guiliana rancic looking quite skeletal today. pretty, but she’d look better with some meat on those bones!

3:08 – big bang theory‘s kaley cuoco awkwardly wearing a diamond ring on her ring finger when she’s not engaged? not feeling the hair either.

3:13 – totally awkward live moment on E! with kelly osbourne – stumbling a bit on air. train wrecks are always hard to watch! not loving the dress either.

3:18 – we’re off to a bit of a slow start! let’s get some celebs on the screen, E!

3:19 – j. love hewitt & bf up with on the platform. she really seems to be striking out in the fashion department lately. not loving tonight’s choice of ramona caveza, either BUT her hair and make-up do look lovely.

3:23 – julia stiles of dexter just arrived in a beautiful black ruffle ensemble. wonder if she’ll win for best supporting actress in a tv series?

3:29 – jim parsons of the big bang theory mentions the circular table seating concept of the Globes. i absolutely love how informal it is!

3:30 – 30 rock‘s alec baldwin looking quite gentlemen-like in his sleek bowtie. he mentioned he’s running for office? hmm… shall i say “spare us?!” stick with what ya know!

3:32 – ryan seacrest reveals that his “real name” is ryan seabrest

3:34 – this just in: hawaii 5-0‘s scott caan snores!

3:36 – donna karan-clad elisabeth moss chose a perfect color for her skintone – jeweled green.

3:37 – glee‘s diana agron looks radiant in j. mendel… but i absolutely HATE when people wear nude colors on the red carpet.

3:38  – WHOA, sorry ryan seacrest but your girl is looking not-so-great. julianna hough in a egyptian-inspired black & gold ensemble. bad choice.

3:4o – Golden Globe host ricky gervais on what he’s most looking forward to: “when it’s over, and i’m backstage having a beer.” HA!

3:43 – sarah hyland from modern family may be young, but her fashion choice is right on target!

3:44 - covert affair‘s piper perabo in oscar de la renta looks exceptional. dress is gorge, but hair and make-up is BREATHTAKING. the red lipstick keeps the black dress from being too boring.

3:46 – i love me some julie bowen! what a beautiful cut, but again i’m not a fan of the color. i wish this was red, orange or pink!

3:50 – never one to shy away from crazy fashion choices, helena bonham carter’s got a bee’s nest on her head and two different colored shoes on her feet.

3:56 – pregnant nominee natalie portman looks stunning! love the pink & red, and especially that cute baby bump!

3:59 – breaking news… jimmy fallon & jason segal are “dating” as of this morning. got in an afternoon fight, but now everything’s better ;)

4:02 – i spy with my little eye january jones in brilliant red & emma stone in coral. LOVE IT.

4:09 – precious couple nicole kidman & keith urban up on the platform. sorry, nicole, but this dress is a huge MISS. keith on her rabbit hole role: “it’s important for nic to tell certain stories.” so cute.

4:14 – think i just saw my best dressed of the night: catherine zeta-jones in a stunning jewel-toned gown. wow! and hubby michael douglas reveals his tumor is gone! PRAISE GOD!

4:20 – modern family‘s sofia vergara gets it RIGHT in that beautiful red, hour-glass ensemble by vera wang!

4:26 – uh oh brad & angelina are here! angie in a versace green sparkle gown. pretty, but looks pretty old-fashioned. i think it’s funny that they always bypass E!.

4:27 – mila kunis in green too! WOW, love that color.

4:33 – another best dressed… temple grandin‘s claire danes! so pretty in pink and loving her jewelry.

4:36 – lea michele is always one of my faves, and tonight was no different. check her out!

4:40 – halle berry. oh my gosh. you are one of the most beautiful women in the world! why did you wear such an ugly dress?!?!

4:42 – ANNE HATHAWAY looking lovely lovely lovely in armani. very different, but i just love it.

4:43 – megan fox and her honey, both in armani. what an attractive couple! i actually like megan’s choice. pretty color!

4:45 – HATE jennifer lopez‘s dress. don’t even want to talk about it.

4:47 – another “hate”… for christina aguilera‘s hairstyle.

4:52 – the fighter‘s mark wahlberg so very much deserves awards for his movie. such a passion project!

5:00 – let the show begin! follow along here for coverage.

friends with no strings attached

two movies, same plot.

let’s get the run-down, shall we?

no strings attached. starring natalie portman and ashton kutcher. two friends try to do the dirty without letting emotions get in the way. but, who are we kidding, they probably end up falling in love anyway. release date of january 21.

friends with benefits. starring mila kunis and justin timberlake. two friends try to do the dirty without letting emotions get in the way. but, who are we kidding, they probably end up falling in love anyway. release date of july 22.

i suppose the only good thing about having two movies with the same premise come out in the same year is that… oh wait, there’s nothing good about that. hello, lack of originality!

the similarly-themed rom com’s start with the same intentions (sleep together out of convenience and/or boredom) and end up with the same predicament (guy falls for girl). seems like the only difference is that the mila/justin flick is a bit more raunchy!

sooo, which one tickles YOUR fancy?

coming soon: water for elephants

i’m a sucker for a period film. and also for reese, robert & christoph.

today we were given a sneak peek at the trio’s next film, water for elephants. check out the trailer above! the film stars robert pattinson as a veterinary student who, after the death of his parents, joins a traveling circus.

set in the world of glitter, majesty and intrigue, jacob (pattinson) falls in love with the circus’ star performer, marlena (reese witherspoon). the two fall in love over their compassion for a special elephant.

marlena’s charismatic but dangerous husband – the incredible christoph waltz – of course poses quite the problem. and have you heard? christoph is one of the best actors there is. it’s bound to be good, then!

based on the best-selling book of the same name, water for elephants hits theaters april 15, 2011. will YOU make plans to see it?

country “wrong”

i never thought i’d see the day that gwyneth paltrow would play a country music star.

well, it’s here! gwynnie’s country strong will hit theaters just in time for Christmas movie goers (december 22nd).

the movie centers on a once-famous country star who attempts to reclaim her career with a resurrection tour after a severe bout with alcoholism. also starring are tim mcgraw as the husband/manager and gossip girl leighton meester as an up-and-comer who starts to steal the spotlight from paltrow’s character.

i’m just not a fan of the trailer. it may surprise me, but this seems a bit too similar to walk the line to really “wow” me. plus, i just can’t get into gwyneth as a country star… it’s just not believable.

what do YOU think?

just goin’ with it

this is looking like a good one!

adam sandler and the beautiful ladies jennifer aniston & brooklyn decker co-star in just go with it, a hilarious take on trying to snag that special someone.  sandler’s character has long pretended to be in a troublesome marriage in order to swing one-night stands with unsuspecting beauties.

when mrs. right comes along (brooklyn), he was caught in the lie and now coerces co-worker aniston to pretend to be his wife, whom he says he’s divorcing. and then hilarity ensues.

besides supermodel brooklyn’s semi-awkward acting, i think this might be a real winner! just go with it comes to theaters february 11th.

watch the first 5 minutes of ‘MEGAMIND’!

Christmas comes early!

nickelodeon has released the first 5 minutes of the much-anticipated dreamworks animated flick, megamind.

featuring the voices of will ferrell, brad pitt, tina fey and jonah hill, megamind centers around two archenemies – the “bad” megamind and the “good” metroman.

check out the first 5 minutes above – SO GOOD! and catch the rest in theaters starting november 5th.

the worst hoax ever

you know, i’m actually kinda irritated.

i’m all for the magic of movies and character development, etc. but this whole joaquin phoenix this-is-not-a-joke-but-now-it-is thing is just plain obnoxious.

joaquin phoenix and bro-in-law casey affleck started filming i’m still here, a movie about an actor who wants to be a rapper. but while filming, joaquin maintained this was NOT a hoax – he himself was quitting acting to become a rapper. most critics even started calling it a documentary, which by definition means it’s a film about real occurrences.

HOLD THE PHONE, because now joaquin and casey are admitting it was just “a movie.” they were surprised, in fact, that people didn’t understand that joaquin was just playing a character.

well excuuuuuse us! we didn’t see angelina jolie running around killing people in real life for her role in salt! so you can understand why we were a bit confused. and apparently i’m not the only one – both critics and audiences alike are in agreement! call it a failed experiment.

check out joaquin’s return visit to david letterman above to set things straight after his hilariously awkward appearance back in 2009.

the social network: “based” on the true story

facebook junkies, listen up!

the social network hits theaters october 1st and is promising a tongue-in-cheek look at the making of the world’s biggest networking website. based on the true story – emphasis on BASED – the social network follows founder mark zuckerberg and other key players through the beginning stages of facebook.

the trailer touts a story of intrigue, betrayal, violence, sex and even drugs. it also makes no mistake in portraying zuckerberg as a devious, arrogant punk. so, is it all really true? probably NOT. according to zuckerberg himself and those who know him, this is a classic case of movie magic.

writer aaron sorkin insists its not an attack on zuckerberg… but is sure appears to be. zuckerberg is now bracing for the backlash he’ll receive from viewers of the flick, saying, “it’s what a lot of people will think i am like, because it’s a movie and that has impact on their perceptions.”

honestly, i feel bad for him. he’s right, movies certainly have the unique ability to permeate our perceptions of real-life… and this will probably be no exception.
