friends with no strings attached

two movies, same plot.

let’s get the run-down, shall we?

no strings attached. starring natalie portman and ashton kutcher. two friends try to do the dirty without letting emotions get in the way. but, who are we kidding, they probably end up falling in love anyway. release date of january 21.

friends with benefits. starring mila kunis and justin timberlake. two friends try to do the dirty without letting emotions get in the way. but, who are we kidding, they probably end up falling in love anyway. release date of july 22.

i suppose the only good thing about having two movies with the same premise come out in the same year is that… oh wait, there’s nothing good about that. hello, lack of originality!

the similarly-themed rom com’s start with the same intentions (sleep together out of convenience and/or boredom) and end up with the same predicament (guy falls for girl). seems like the only difference is that the mila/justin flick is a bit more raunchy!

sooo, which one tickles YOUR fancy?

“killin’” with katherine & ashton

katherine heigl. ashton kutcher. already this movie is sounding good – and lookin’ good! barreling off of box office hits like the ugly truth and what happens in vegas, it was the perfect moment to seize.

these two are veterans of the romantic comedy genre! their latest, killers, boasts a pretty hysterical trailer (see above) and an entertaining synopsis:

trying to recover from a sudden break-up, jen (heigl) believes she’ll never fall in love again. but when she reluctantly joins her parents on a trip to the french riviera, jen happens to meet the man of her dreams, spencer (kutcher).

three years later, her seemingly impossible wish has come true: she and spencer are newlyweds living the ideal suburban life – that is, until the morning after spencer’s 30th birthday when bullets start flying. literally.

yes, it’s dumb. but i’m sure it will be funny! killers is set to release june 4th – kickin’ off a long list of summer blockbusters including iron man 2, shrek forever after, sex and the city 2, the twilight saga: eclipse and little fockers. seeing a trend from that list? all sequels!

made of gold?

don’t get me wrong, i’m a huge julia roberts fan. but come on, is she made of gold?

if you ventured out into the theaters this weekend to indulge in the celebrity love fest that is ‘valentine’s day,’ you might’ve caught a glimpse of the actress. judging from the trailer, we would’ve thought julia was a prime player. but as it turns out, she’s only in the film for roughly 6 minutes!

but that’s not the ridiculous part. for her part in the lovey-dovey flick, america’s sweetheart was paid $3 MILLION! that’s about $500,000 a minute. for that kinda cash, those better be the best 6 minutes of our lives!!

apparently roberts agreed to the part as a favor to director garry marshall. after casting her, it was much easier to get stars like jessica biel, ashton kutcher and anne hathaway on board. i guess only the box office can tell if julia was worth that paycheck… we’ll find out soon!

behold, the twitter king

ashton_kutcher1hey friends, did you know that ashton kutcher is the king of twitter? well, give him a chance and he’ll tell you all about it! the actor (does he still act?) has been runnin’ his mouth off all around town claiming to be all-important in the world of twitter.

he told the audience at a panel for fortune magazine’s brainstorm tech con, “i started twitter as a communication device to stay in touch with fans.” did ya, now? well, i will give him this – he is twitter’s most followed user. boasting over 3 million followers, it appears ashton spends more time on the micro-blogging site than making movies these days. “i shut down a website everyday because i send too much traffic there from my twitter feed.”

he’s drunk with power, people! especially after he won the contest waged against cnn to gain the most followers. when asked by the interviewer at the tech convention about the battle, ashton says he’s “shocked that an individual could have as much influence in [social media] than a media conglomerate.”

it doesn’t look like the twitter king will let up anytime soon. he says it’s just too much fun! the bad news is, as long as twitter keeps growing, ashton’s follower count will as well. and that just means more fun claims to fame from @aplusk!
