cheers to ellen! she got this gorgeous man to not only take his shirt off, but make us laugh in the process…

check out this hilarious clip from the ellen degeneres show of a hidden camera prank involving david beckham and a unsuspecting masseuse. i mean, i’ll give you a cookie or something if you manage not to burst out laughing while watching.

while not quite as good as the dennis quaid prank, mr. beckham certainly held his own! love it!

ellen quits idol!

shocker! but a good shocker, in my opinion.

ellen degeneres has just announced via her twitter that she has quit american idol. her statement reads:

“a couple months ago, i let FOX and the american idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. i told them i wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that i would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.

it was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than i bargained for. i also realized this season that while i love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. i loved the experience working on idol and i am very grateful for the year i had. i am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

i’m definitely a fan of ellen, but watching her on idol was always uncomfortable. i agree that it wasn’t quite the “right fit.” she excels on her talk show and at stand-up comedy, which is where it sounds like she’ll stick.

perez for american idol?

unless you’ve been holed up under a rock, you know that american idol‘s beloved simon cowell plans on parting ways with the ratings king at the end of this season. so that leaves randy jackson, kara dioguardi and newly-minted ellen degeneres to hold down the judge’s fort. room for one more?

well, that’s what perez hilton is hoping for. the self-proclaimed celebrity and gossip blogger is campaigning - hard – to take over cowell’s spot. see his desperate plea above! it doesn’t sound like he has much of a case, considering his biggest rationale for hopping on the idol stage centers around the fact that he’s “gay.” oh really? because we weren’t quite sure.

my thoughts closely mirror this guy‘s comment… “if this douche nozzle ever ended up on idol, i would never watch it again!!” but others, like simon cowell himself, think perez might be a good fit. please, spare us!

her musical chops

she can sing! actress jennifer aniston appeared on ‘the ellen degeneres show’ today to promote her latest flick, ‘love happens.’ after some chitty chatting, ellen inquires about jen’s upcoming project called ‘the goree girls,’ which calls for aniston to sing. ellen coaxes the lovely lady to serenade the audience, and she obliges with a sultry rendition of ‘i’ve got a crush on you.’ pretty good if you ask me! check out the clip above.

‘the goree girls’ is based on the book by john lee hancock which centers around the true-life story of eight female inmates who form a country bank in texas back in the 1940′s. aniston is set to produce and star in the film, with michael sucsy (‘grey gardens’) directing. this should definitely be interesting, as we have rarely seen aniston in anything outside of romantic comedies.

director sucsy says of the flick:

“these women learned to harmonize and they learned to play instruments. they weren’t these amazing, accomplished singers who banded together. that’s what’s interesting about it. it’s not just like, ‘hey, you can play the guitar, i can play the piano, i can play the harmonica. let’s put a band together.’ it’s like, ‘we have to get out of jail, and if we have to put a band together to do that, then that’s what we’re going to do.’ “

jennifer will also have to learn to play the dobro (a guitar) for her starring role. sucsy plans on casting real musicians to play alongside aniston. ‘the goree girls’ is due out sometime late next year.
