made of gold?

don’t get me wrong, i’m a huge julia roberts fan. but come on, is she made of gold?

if you ventured out into the theaters this weekend to indulge in the celebrity love fest that is ‘valentine’s day,’ you might’ve caught a glimpse of the actress. judging from the trailer, we would’ve thought julia was a prime player. but as it turns out, she’s only in the film for roughly 6 minutes!

but that’s not the ridiculous part. for her part in the lovey-dovey flick, america’s sweetheart was paid $3 MILLION! that’s about $500,000 a minute. for that kinda cash, those better be the best 6 minutes of our lives!!

apparently roberts agreed to the part as a favor to director garry marshall. after casting her, it was much easier to get stars like jessica biel, ashton kutcher and anne hathaway on board. i guess only the box office can tell if julia was worth that paycheck… we’ll find out soon!

tabloid gold

we are all fully aware of the familial troubles of the gosselin fam, but the tabloids don’t think we’ve had enough.

exhibit a through z: the millions of covers the husband & wife team have appeared on in the last month. okay we get it – they may or may not have royally screwed up. wanna know why they keep digging in the gosselin gossip? they are tabloid gold.

the lucky mag that broke the story of jon’s alleged affair sold over 1 million copies, which is a 100k boost from what they were selling before. all others that followed? just as prosperous. us weekly editor janice min believes that jon & kate’s reality tv show helped readers feel a close connection to the family. when things started to go wrong, it hit people a little harder than would, say, lindsay lohan’s latest breakdown. the saddest thing? the gosselin’s troubles seem far from over. and people magazine is the latest to cash in with their cover story on jon’s side of the story. it just won’t stop!
