i like ellen. don’t get me wrong. she’s a great TV host. but now she’s starting her own record label! whaaa?

it is actually painful to watch her judge on american idol. her funny one-liners just can’t quite mask the fact that she has no music industry know-how. you can only say “you’re good” and “you’re bad” in so many ways, you know, before her critiques all start to sound the same.

so what’s she doing starting a label? called eleveneleven, ellen’s new label will work in collaboration with telepictures productions. she’s even got her first signed artist! the AMAZING youtuber greyson chance will debut under eleveneleven, with co-managers guy oseary and troy carter (who’ve managed madonna and lady gaga, respectively).

okay so she’s got the help. but can she pull this off? if it weren’t for the big-name backers, i don’t think ellen would stand a chance. thoughts?

holy bondage, christina! trying to stay relevant, are we ms. aguilera? it would appear so, judging by the premiere video her latest single not myself tonight! check it out, above.

the little lady is groping, grinding, humping, stripping, kissing, straddling… with boys AND girls (did anyone else notice that the brunette she gets it on with is channing tatum’s wife jenna dewan??!)

she’s really taking the “sex sells” mentality to heart! the 29-year-old singer embraces her inner dominatrix in the vid, saying “i’m more confident and comfortable in my own skin. “i think i’m even a more sexual christina.”

yeah, like how is that possible? anyone remember her video for dirty?

not to mention the striking similarities between her “new” look and that of lady gaga’s. everything from the tongue-in-cheek dancing to the hair, make-up and outfits. well, they do share a director – hype williams also led lady gaga & beyonce in the video for video phone.

dear lady gaga, it’s called food. eat some of it!! okay, okay. it’s not our place to speculate. but, come on!

the international pop star burst onto the scene less than two years ago. her quirky attitude and artistic prowess have catapulted her to the top of the charts. that’s all well & good… but take a look at the toll it’s had on her!

her latest music video for telephone has bloggers & critics focusing on one thing: her weight. i may be weirded out by her interviews and her outfits, but one thing is for sure – she’s talented. and it sucks to see that, after all her female empowerment words of wisdom, it would appear she has given in to the demands of fame.

gaga is seen to the left as a skin-and-bones version of herself in one of telephone‘s dance sequences. one blogger even put it:

“the first dance sequence is all about…honestly, it’s about how skinny lady gaga has become. while she was certainly slim at the start of her career, her weight was still in the realm of normal, and it was refreshing to see someone in the industry flaunting healthy-looking thighs with such reckless abandon. that girl has been replaced with the “incredible shrinking woman”, adhering to cookie-cutter expectations of what pop stars should look like. how’s that for being a groundbreaking artist? perhaps we needn’t look much further to explain the strange accent she’s adopted and her ridiculously slow response time in interviews—this girl is HUNGRY.”

and it seems the problem is growing! the lady was in new zealand this past saturday, and nearly collapsed on stage. check the video below – around the 1:30 mark – to see her begin sitting and even lying down during bad romance. she’s on the verge of wrapping up her 100+ show tour, a feat that even the healthiest of stars would struggle with. ya can’t argue that this girl needs break.

and here’s the best part. they go for a whopping $99.95 to $149.95 depending upon the style you choose. what, are these magic earphones or something? apparently it’s a small price to pay to have a pair of diamond-shape jewels in your ears.

the lady explains her new adventure in the marketing materials: “in the deepest hour of the night, i confess to myself three things; i would die if i was forbidden to write, forbidden to love, or forbidden to fashion. heartbeats embody the trinity of my human-being, with one additional vow: that SOUND matters. wear heartbeats, love each other, and celebrate the art and lifestyle of music.”

i’ll pass, thanks.

veteran singer tori amos has enjoyed an almost 20-year career – a feat not often found in the musical world. amos took time out of her schedule to share her opinion on why pop sensation lady gaga might not be so lucky. she shared with british tabloid the sun that gaga’s popularity is only fleeting.

“she’s what i call a meteor – singers who entertain people for a while. hey, there’s nothing wrong with that. but then there are people like neil young who show up at glastonbury 40 years into their career. and that’s a very different kind of artist.”

she goes on to explain that perhaps the economic crisis is the reason for lady gaga’s success. ”she wants to entertain people. right now, half the world is depressed and they need to be entertained. so her timing’s perfect.” well, that may be true, but gaga is certainly making a run for it. she’s supremely confident in her rise to fame. only time will tell if she lasts!

okay, we get it. you want to be edgy. you want to be different. but COME ON, lady gaga, now you are just getting annoying. it’s as if every morning she wakes up & actually spends time thinking about how she can act even weirder than the day before. her fashion? i don’t consider a clear PVC bubble suit to be really that fashionable. honestly!

this issue of rolling stone boasts an article on ‘the rise of lady gaga.’ i can only hope that we see the demise of lady gaga soon after. okay, i’m being harsh. it would be different if she didn’t take her “art” so seriously. watch this wacked-out interview she did that i happened to stumble across. can you say crazy?

with the explosion of lady gaga on the music scene, i think everyone is kinda wondering where this girl came from. she never wears pants, instead opting for leotard-esque bottoms. she wears bows in her hair that are made out of hair. anyway, she’s fiercely fought her way to the top in such a short time.

sometimes you see highschool photos of celebs, and it’s like oh haha they had a funny 90′s hairstyle. but this little lady did a major 180 from her highschool years! check out her senior entry in the yearbook… now you see the cute little girl next door, now you don’t. she’s lady GAGA now!

the grammys are on cbs at 8:00 ET/PT. obviously my opinion isn’t worth much in the music biz, but i’ve colored the nominees below that i am rooting for just for fun.
