christina hendricks is amazing

hallelujah! and hallelujah one more time for good measure! mad men‘s christina hendricks has been named the america’s most beautiful woman by esquire magazine. so, so deserving.

she just exudes “sexy!” the actress, who received a whopping 30 per cent of the votes, appears on the cover of the the mag’s may issue.

following closely behind the mad men bombshell was previous winner megan fox with 14 % of the votes and victoria’s secret model adriana lima, who earned 17 %. as gorgeous as she is, her interview was even better. check out some highlights below on her “letter to men”:

We love your body. If we’re in love with you, we love your body. Your potbelly, everything. Even if you’re insecure about something, we love your body. You feel like you’re not this or that? We love your body. We embrace everything. Because it’s you.

We remember forever what you say about the bodies of other women. When you mention in passing that a certain woman is attractive — could be someone in the office, a woman on the street, a celebrity, any woman in the world, really — your comment goes into a steel box and it stays there forever. We will file the comment under “Women He Finds Attractive.”

We also remember everything you say about our bodies, be it good or bad. Doesn’t matter if it’s a compliment. Could be just a comment. Those things you say are stored away in the steel box, and we remember these things verbatim. We remember what you were wearing and the street corner you were standing on when you said it.

Remember what we like… I mentioned this three or four weeks ago and talked about it briefly, but he was really listening to me. And he actually went out and researched and found this thing for me. It was amazing.

Stand up, open a door, offer a jacket. We talk about it with our friends after you do it. We say, “Can you believe he stood up when I approached the table?” It makes us feel important. And it makes you important because we talk about it.

No shorts that go below the knee. The ones almost like capri pants, the ones that hover somewhere between the kneecap and the calf? Enough with those shorts. They are the most embarrassing pants in the world. They should never be worn. No woman likes those.

There are better words than beautiful. Radiant, for instance. It’s an underused word. It’s a very special word. “You are radiant.” Also, enchanting, smoldering, intoxicating, charming, fetching.

Marriage changes very little. Intelligence and humor (and your smell) are what get you laid. That’s what got you laid when you were single. That’s what gets you laid when you’re married. Everything still works in marriage: especially intelligence and humor. Because the sexiest thing is to know you.

television’s big night

it’s the celebration of television! the emmy awards, hosted by neil patrick harris, featured a plethora of your favorite shows & stars – all there to honor the industry’s best. the telecast garnered a viewership of 13.3 million, an impressive 11% increase from last year’s show.

we’re all used to ’30 rock’ being big winners, which of course this year they were as well (best comedy, best lead actor), but i was happy to see some other well-deserved victories. the lovely toni collette won the emmy for best actress in a comedy series (‘united states of tara’). and for his role as ben in ‘lost’, michael emerson won best supporting actor. i also thought it was very fitting for justin timberlake to win best guest host for his hilarious stints on ‘saturday night live.’ click here for a full list of this year’s honorees.

but let’s be honest – you just wanna know who looked good and who failed miserably! best dressed, shall we? i have to give it up to ‘eastwick’ star lindsay price. my oh my she looked stunning in a dress by j. mendel. and emmy award-winning actress toni collette found this drop-dead gorgeous monique l’huillier gown. just plain WOW. who would’ve thought that toni would show up in – of all things – a pink, frilly dress!

as for the worst? well, see for yourself. blake lively, star of ‘gossip girl,’ was on track with a beautiful versace gown… that is until she sliced it down to her navel. it’s just a bit much, yes? and the long, braided ponytail is a little too ‘xena warrior princess’ for my taste. then there’s poor sarah silverman. definitely not a flattering look on her! this is all sorts of wrong. especially the weird hip-bouffant action going on.

the trend of the night? white gowns. we’ve got january jones (‘mad men’) in atelier versace, olivia wilde (‘house’) in marchesa, leighton meester (‘gossip girl’) in bottega veneta & kim kardashian in ina soltani. january & olivia, i’m loving it. as for the other two ladies, i’m not as enthused. kim must’ve known she would get some ‘saturday night fever’ cracks in that outfit!

if i were a bettin’ woman…

… i would’ve made a lotta money betting on this year’s sag awards! although always fun to watch, the winners were very very predictable. tv comedy ’30 rock’ took home best actress (tina fey), best actor (alec baldwin), and best ensemble.

more predictable-ness: the hbo miniseries ‘jon adams’ gave actors laura linney & paul giamatti wins in their respective categories. and the honor of best supporting actor in a film was given to heath ledger for his portrayal of the joker in ‘the dark knight’, with co-star gary oldman accepting the award on his behalf. and in the last category of the evening, the screen actors guild award for best feature film, the well-deserved ‘slumdog millionaire’ took home the top prize.

other big winners:
male actor in a leading role: sean penn, ‘milk’
female actor in a leading role: meryl streep, ‘doubt’
female actor in a supporitng role: kate winslet, ‘the reader’
ensemble in a drama series: ‘mad men’
male actor in a drama series: hugh laurie, ‘house’
female actor in a drama series: sally field, ‘brothers & sisters’
lifetime acheivement award: james earl jones
