tmz searched and searched to no avail. moments later thesmokinggun.com beat them to the punch, posting a mugshot of mayer from a 2001 arrest. apparently the singer was driving with a suspended license in atlanta. while the case was dismissed a month later, it still gave us this lovely picture memory.

regardless of who posted it first, tmz urged mayer to make good on his end of the deal. and make good he did! tmz told mayer to split the $25,000 between two charities, the pet orphans of socal and ace of hearts. he produced pictures of the two checks, and sent the moolah on over. see? even douchey guys like john mayer can do nice things every once in awhile!
