little fockers

meetthefockerspic

i’ve been aching for some of ben stiller’s self-deprecating humor. and it’s coming! the third installment of everyone’s favorite ‘focker’ series is maturing quickly at universal pictures, with a tentative release time of summer 2010.

the film is set to be titled ‘little fockers’ and, you guessed it, it will be all about the kiddos of greg focker & his wife pam. a casting call even reveals that producers are looking to cast boy & girl twins! bobby deniro, ben stiller & owen wilson are all set to reprise their hysterical roles as well.

the first two ‘focker’ films have grossed over $800 million worldwide for universal, so it is no surprise that they are hittin’ the piggy bank one more time. there’s no doubt that the movie will be hysterical – john hamburg, the same screenwriter that penned ‘meet the parents’ & ‘meet the fockers’ – has been brought on to write the next hit. looking forward to it!

julie & julia

anything meryl streep touches turns to gold. so it would surprise me if her latest film ‘julie & julia’ doesn’t perform big. she always shines best when she’s immersed in character. this time, she becomes cooking extraordinaire julia child. but the flick is more than just a biopic on the late great chef. it intertwines the true story of unlucky-in-life julie powell (amy adams), as she embarks on a challenge to cook her way through julia child’s ‘master the art of french cooking.’

the movie flips back and forth through time between child’s journey as a chef & powell’s journey to self-discovery. the 30-something powell created an online blog, the julie/julia project, in which she catalogs the 365 days of recipes.

HOWEVER, upon some research into the true story of the two ladies, it appears there is a bit more to the story. turns out, the real-life julia child was not a fan of julie powell at all! judith jones, julia child’s editor and friend had this to say: “child did not approve of powell’s cook-every-recipe-in-one-year project. julia said, ‘i don’t think she’s a serious cook.’ flinging around four-letter words when cooking isn’t attractive to me or to julia. she didn’t want to endorse it. what came through on the blog was somebody who was doing it almost for the sake of a stunt. she would never really describe the end results, how delicious it was, and what she learned.”

innnnteresting. i’m sure for the sake of the box office, movie producers failed to include that detail. regardless, it will be worth it just to see meryl be meryl and kill it on-screen. the movie premieres august 7th.

a time & a place

last week, i was tuning in to some good ole american idol when BAM. we were all treated to a monstrous opinion over-share. performer katy perry likely went against the wishes of producers to show her affection for finalist adam lambert by fashioning his sequined name on her costume.

while i’m sure adam lambert’s fans – or “glamberts” – were thrilled, FOX wasn’t quite as enthused. each performance on AI is edited after the fact and featured for purchase on iTunes. this little number, however, was edited so as not to show perry’s shout-out. TMZ has put together a split-screen of the live performance & the edited iTunes bit so you can see the diff. i guess they thought we wouldn’t notice?! keep your opinions to yoself on the stage, katy!

“well, i really like bears.”

ohh wow! what a great night for ‘the bachelor’. you know, it is quite a fun show to watch. mainly because i think it is quite interesting to see people try for “love” on a tv show. but the show also provides for some hearty laughs. tonight, for example, i watched in dismay as several of the girls made some pretty note-worthy comments…

my favorite, was when jason explained that he wanted to get to know natalie a little better. you know, dig a little deeper, if you will. so he says “tell me something about yourself, something personal.” to which natalie replies, “well, i really like bears.” i don’t know if it was clever editing or what, but jason’s reaction was absolutely pricelessssss. i still can’t even think about it without dying laughing!

another good one was when nikki was being interviewed by producers. she states quite confidently, “i know i’m pretty, and i know i’m smart. but maybe being pretty and smart just isn’t good enough for him.” really nikki? really??

anyway, you better believe i will keep tuning in… if for no other reason than to hear more funny quotes!
