some dictator love

there are so many things wrong with what’s going on here. first, what the heck is aubrey o’day doing on the sean hannity show? the girls group cast-off has been milking her “fame” in such prestigious ways like posing for playboy and wearing next to nothing on the red carpet. classy! so why hannity had her as a guest, it’s beyond me!

regardless, the lovely lady had some insight to share about everyone’s favorite dictators, fidel castro and adolf hitler on the show yesterday. she defends communist dictator castro, calling him “brilliant!” she goes on to say “i’m not defending his behavior in many instances, but i do have to say that i will 100 percent agree he’s an incredibly brilliant man.”

there’s no greater way to get yourself in hot water than express admiration for the commie’s. well, i take that back. because aubrey in the next breath discusses how she also believes adolf hitler was a brilliant man. in the wake of the coverage surrounding her comments, aubrey just released a statement to tmz to explain herself further. and there you have it, folks! check out the hysterical clip above.

counterproductive

kellycollage

kind of confused – what is ‘self’ magazine’s mantra again? i thought it was to make women feel confident, healthy & fabulous in the skin their in. apparently kelly clarkson’s skin just wasn’t good enough! the music star is this month’s ‘self’ mag cover girl, and as you can see above it doesn’t exactly capture kel’s true essence.

recently the star has been criticized for her weight gain. in response, kelly says “my happy weight changes. sometimes i eat more; sometimes i play more. i’ll be different sizes all the time. when people talk about my weight, i’m like ‘you seem to have a problem with it; i don’t. i’m fine!’ i’ve never felt uncomfortable on the red carpet or anything.”

which is all well & good. all the power to you, clarkson! but here’s the thing. the mag cover is clearly photo-shopped. but editor-in-chief of ‘self’ lucy danziger claims that post-production corrections are normal. “self magazine inspires & informs 6 million readers each month to reach their all around best. kelly clarkson exudes confidence, and is a great role model for women of all sizes & stages of their life.”

people obviously viewed the cover pic as counterproductive to what the editor claims is the goal of their magazine. what did they think we wouldn’t notice?

toilet-brush fashion

oh fricks! beyonce and several other girls fell victim to some pretty ug-oh ensembles on oscar night. i just don’t get the dress shaped like a toilet-brush! what ever happened to the subtle mermaid cut?

in any case, poor beyonce, who usually looks like a million bucks on the red carpet, failed miserably in this wallpaper-inspired gown. designed by her very own momma, b looked so drab with no jewelry and ho-hum hair & makeup.

but the toilet-brush dress phenomenon did not stop there. melissa george (yea, i don’t know who she is either) came out in this dolce & gabbana dress. of course she’s gorgeous, but again i’m not loving the style.

and little miss vanessa hudgens also showed up in a similar style of dress. although i loved the top half, the toilet-brush was still in effect. originally this marchesa dress was knee-length, but hudgens had it lengethened to better fit the feel of the oscars. ohe well, better luck next year, girls!

the fashion report: 2009 Golden Globes

award season is here! and i am all about it. i love watching them each from beginning to end. which, of course, includes the red carpet! there were some gorgeous dresses this year at the golden globes, but only one gave me chills. literally, i got goosebumps! in my opinion, the best dressed of the evening was eva longoria in reem acra. i love everything about it. love the color, love the cut. the mermaid bottom is so flattering. this is very similar to what i picture my wedding dress to look like! but in white, of course :)

i also just loved this dress of eva mendes’. so prefect! the turquoise jewelry is so very pretty. definitely a fav!

now. for the worst dressed. and this one is kind of unfortunate, because normally she is one of my favorites! ms. renee zellweger wearing carolina herrera looked like an absolute disaster – from her messy up-do to the sheer top with slitted sleeves! and, it should also be noted that the weirder-than-weird expression on her face didn’t help either. everytime she poses for something, she sucks in her cheeks and squints her eyes. weird! but nonetheless, here she is, in all her glory:
