“killin’” with katherine & ashton

katherine heigl. ashton kutcher. already this movie is sounding good – and lookin’ good! barreling off of box office hits like the ugly truth and what happens in vegas, it was the perfect moment to seize.

these two are veterans of the romantic comedy genre! their latest, killers, boasts a pretty hysterical trailer (see above) and an entertaining synopsis:

trying to recover from a sudden break-up, jen (heigl) believes she’ll never fall in love again. but when she reluctantly joins her parents on a trip to the french riviera, jen happens to meet the man of her dreams, spencer (kutcher).

three years later, her seemingly impossible wish has come true: she and spencer are newlyweds living the ideal suburban life – that is, until the morning after spencer’s 30th birthday when bullets start flying. literally.

yes, it’s dumb. but i’m sure it will be funny! killers is set to release june 4th – kickin’ off a long list of summer blockbusters including iron man 2, shrek forever after, sex and the city 2, the twilight saga: eclipse and little fockers. seeing a trend from that list? all sequels!

pre-’sex and the city’!

‘sex and the city’… we see carrie as a young adult, working in new york city with her best friends and lots and lots of boyfriends. but what was she like as a teenager? well, we might now have our answer!

‘sex and the city’ author candace bushnell is set to publish a book entitled ‘the carrie diaries’ that will chronicle the fashionista’s life before the cameras started rolling. we’ll see carrie in high-school, dealing with all the perils of the teenage days – mother issues, first loves, friends and enemies galore! the book will also address how carrie became a writer.

‘the carrie diaries’ will hit shelves april 27, 2010 – conveniently close to the ‘sex and the city 2′ movie premiere in may! should be a good month for the die-hards.

couples retreat

this one sounds too good to be true. vince vaughn? jason bateman? and those are just two of the hysterical 8-person cast for the upcoming flick ‘couples retreat.’ due in theaters october 9th, the comedy follows four midwestern couples who take off to a tropical island resort. little do they know, participation in the resort’s couples therapy is not optional.

vince vaughn championed the idea of following four very different couples through very real-life (but funny) problems faced by couples across the world. also starring is ‘sex and the city’s’ kristin davis, faizon love, kristen bell and newcomer malin akerman. while one of the couple’s was there to really give their marriage a much-needed face-lift, the other three just went for the awesome group rate. so, you can imagine the hilarity that ensues.

plus, anything vince vaughn & jason bateman do is golden. the tagline? ‘it may be paradise, but it’s no vacation.’ check out the trailer above.

sjp & ferris bueller expecting twins

 sjp-021207-a1

such surprising news! sarah jessica parker & matthew broderick, married for over 12 years now, are expecting two new additions to their family. the couple have a 6-year-old son james wilkie but have since had trouble conceiving. after several unsuccessful tries to expand their fam, they turned to surrogacy.

the surrogate mother will be giving birth to the couple’s twin daughters late summer. can’t wait to hear what they’ll name them! they will certainly have their hands full this year: sarah jessica parker will be filming the sequel to ‘sex and the city’ & the romantic comedy ‘did you hear about the morgans?’ as hubby broderick is currently starring in ‘the philanthropist’ on broadway.

a thousand steps back

marveldivas

alright, i’m no crazy-feminist, but this is just WEIRD. marvel comics has released a picture and some limited info about their new superheros – the marvel divas.

divas?! DIVAS? i mean, come on. but it gets better. the superhero ladies are supposed to be cartoon crime-fighting versions of the characters from ‘sex and the city.’ yes, not only will we get to see the ladies in action, but we’ll hear about their boy problems. marvel’s roberto aguirre-sacasa says of the series, “there’s definitely that naughty element to it.” oh goodie.

and let’s point out the elephant in the room… nice bosoms, ladies. how very life-like?

well, we must have a sense of humor about it all. i’m sure they’ll be a hit among teenage boys at least. how long until they make a movie out of it?

i caved

2008_sex_and_the_city_0022

i dove into the world of manolos & louis vuitton, finally renting the ‘sex and the city’ movie. i know, i’m a little late on the bandwagon. like 10 years late! i’ve never even seen a full episode on tv. but i decided to go there. so i’ll give it to ya straight. why i liked it & why i didn’t.

of course the clothes were fabulous, that’s a given. i applaud the visual aspects of the movie. but to be honest – that was about all i liked. first off, it was too dang LONG! i found myself wishing it would just end already. and there was waaayy too much going on. they were happy, sad, happy, single, married, divorced, reconciled, then sad, then happy all over again. i really wish they would’ve spent time developing a storyline instead of cutting up several & pasting them back together at the end.
there were also some very strange transitions. i remember at one point we were laughing at carrie & the next we were (or maybe just me) covering my eyes while samantha’s neighbor had a threesome! but i will say samantha was my favorite character. she gave the movie the witty banter that it needed.

overall – hey, why not – it was exactly what fans of the movie wanted it to be. true to the tv show, fun, fashionable & all about the laaaadies!
