ricky gervais sticks it to ‘em!

very rarely do i write any post-award show coverage that not a fashion report, but this is just too good to pass up.

did you watch the Golden Globes? well, then, you probably already know what this is all about. host ricky gervais had some fun up on that stage! and he does not regret a single moment.

in the span of four minutes, gervais managed to make an enemy of charlie sheen, johnny depp, angelina jolie, the hollywood foreign press association, cher, the entire case and crew of the tourist and sex and the city 2, scientologists, tom cruise, john travolta, hugh hefner, hef’s fiance, and homosexuals in general. whew!

and i’m not talking subtle jabs. i’m talking did-he-really-just-say-that mouth-hanging-open kinda stuff. don’t get me wrong, it WAS funny. but quite controversial! see above for video of his opening monologue.

i personally thought it was the very reason why they hired him. to get people talking! what do YOU think? did he cross the line?

it’s mtv time.

choppy vows

channing-tatum-240

they can’t get any cuter. ‘step up’s channing tatum & jenna dewan recently made their love official, getting married a couple of weeks ago in malibu. seems perfect, right? well, the lives of public figures can get a little complicated.

the 29-year-old ‘g.i. joe’ star recently shared one thing he didn’t like about his wedding on July 11. “when we’re at a wedding and there’s a helicopter above us and we’re trying to say our vows, it’s a little heartbreaking, to be totally honest with you,” he said of the paparazzi.

truly – can you imagine? the one most blissful moment of your life is close to ruined all because the paps want to sell a picture of you in a wedding gown. channing went on to say “i’ll never understand it. i don’t read those magazines, i never have, and i don’t allow them in my house. i think they’re ruining the business, personally, because the more you get to know somebody, what they do and how they are in real life, the less you’re going to believe them in any part.”

he actually makes a good point. but do you think that’ll change anytime soon? no way. remember back when tom cruise was the hottest, most sought-after movie star? that quickly changed once the guy started being kooky – jumping on oprah’s couch & being overly aggressive with his religion of scientology. in fact, it was reported that cruise dropped from being the 11th most-liked celeb down to the 197th. and it’s no secret that his movie ticket sales followed suit. look’s like channing tatum might be on to something there…

katie ‘thinks she can dance’

katiejudyin your wildest dreams, did you ever think katie holmes would appear on the reality show ‘so you think you can dance’? and not just appear… but perform? nevertheless, that’s exactly what the actress has done this thursday night.

the 30-year-old wife of tom cruise was tapped by ‘sytycd’ execs to perform on the show’s 100th episode. katie’s number? she shimmied around to ‘get happy’ by the legendary judy garland, paying homage to the late great star. see her performance after the jump!

i bet you’re asking yourself, since when did katie holmes sing… or dance, for that matter. since her appearance in broadway’s ‘all my sons,’ she’s become quite passionate about the art form.

katie & some others have recently founded the dizzy feet foundation, which helps provides scholarships to young dancers to help them realize their dream of becoming professional dancers. katie says, “i think it’s important for children to experience music and dance. every child should have the opportunity to discover what it is they like and have access to the very best in that pursuit.”
