trailer: everything must go

anchorman. talladega nights. step brothers. old school.  just a few of the amazing comedies that the beloved will ferrell has headlined. but his latest certainly doesn’t fall in line with these slapstick credits!

watch the trailer (above) of will’s new movie everything must go in which he plays a man who lives on his front lawn and sells all his belongings after losing his wife & job. thoughts?

it’s obvious this has a comedic element, but there’s definitely some underlying drama goin’ on. it’ll be interesting to see if he’ll be able to pull viewers away from ron burgundy and into nick halsey, his character in this new flick.

everything must go has been getting good reviews for the most part: “it is a sweet — and often very honest — look at life, and another example of how criminally underused will ferrell’s talents are” (via moviefone). but there’s definitely one thing critics universally agree about – that this will not be a big money-maker at the box office. with a budget of only $8 million, the studio at least won’t be losing money. i’ll be interested to see the numbers though! catch it in theaters may 13th.

will & steve… together again on ‘the office!’

well, this news just made my morning!

i’m dreading the office without the great michael scott, yes. but news that will ferrell will be joining his anchorman co-star steve carell during his farewell episodes sweetens his office departure just a bit.

…but only a bit.

ferrell has committed to a four-episode arc on the office in which he’ll play a branch manager who has many michael scott-like qualities – which means he’ll most likely be awkward, hilarious and inappropriate. producers are saying ferrell will air one episode after carell leaves, to help with the transition. seems they think mr. ferrell will help stop the michael scott withdrawals!

exec producer paul liberstein / toby jokes, “we found steve carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star. we are proud to continue the office’s tradition of discovering famous talent, and we hope that once America gets a good look at will, they’ll see what we see, tremendous raw sexuality.”

and there you have it. can’t wait!

watch the first 5 minutes of ‘MEGAMIND’!

Christmas comes early!

nickelodeon has released the first 5 minutes of the much-anticipated dreamworks animated flick, megamind.

featuring the voices of will ferrell, brad pitt, tina fey and jonah hill, megamind centers around two archenemies – the “bad” megamind and the “good” metroman.

check out the first 5 minutes above – SO GOOD! and catch the rest in theaters starting november 5th.

jewel’s gone undercover

if i were famous, i would do stuff like this ALL the time. catching people off guard is the best! check it out – funny or die, will ferrell’s brainchild, had the brills idea of sending an undercover jewel to sing karaoke at a hole-in-the-wall bar!

donning a sly disguise, jewel/”karen” is coaxed by her co-workers (actors) to get her booty up on stage. she starts belting out songs by jewel much to the crowd’s delight! the reaction is pretty priceless: “she sounds better than jewel!”

this viral video just might become a tv series! similar in plot to CBS’ reality show, i get that a lot, there’s quite a market for this candid camera-esque format.  the funny or die boys are said to be pitching the show to network execs this week. the jewel vid got 2.5 million views in only 3 days! definitely has some potential. would YOU watch undercover karaoke?

i’m ron burgundy?

update: directory adam mckay tweeted on thursday “so bummed. paramount basically passed on anchorman 2. even after we cut our budget down. we tried… to all who asked: no we can’t do anchorman 2 at another studio. paramount owns it.”

NOOOOOOOOO how can this be true? paramount be talkin’ crazy!!!

i hope this isn’t a joke, because this would just about make my life complete!

it’s been confirmed: anchorman 2 is a “go!” both will ferrell & david koechner have gone public with their desire to don plaid suits and take to the cameras again.

i mean, it would be a travesty not to! these guys are pretty phenom together. but here’s a disclaimer from ferrell himself – the sequel won’t be anywhere near as good as the original!

“we don’t think we can make it as good. it would be really fun to do, so we might just try to make the craziest sequel you’ve ever seen. it could be terrible, but if they’re going to pay us to do it, then why not, right?”

agreed! do it! since anchorman‘s release in 2004, the cast has gone on to even more popular projects. which might make getting the gang back together a little harder. ferrell has his concerns, but koechner assures us that it won’t be a problem… they’ve got the same manager, so it’s just a matter of time that they’ll be back in the game! in the meantime, enjoy one of my (many) favorite anchorman scenes below.

on the prowl

it’s never-ending with these two! just over a month ago, jon and kate gosselin of ‘jon & kate plus 8′ announced that they would be divorcing. the family’s tumultuous life apparently hit one too many bumps. amidst accusations of cheating and tense video shoots for their hit tlc show, the announcement came as no surprise.

but whoa! life goes on. just today in fact jon gosselin was spotted with a new girlfriend in st. tropez. because that’s EXACTLY what he should be doing with 8 children under the age of 10 at home. perhaps it was jon’s match.com commercial that brought them together?

will ferrell’s brain child ‘funny or die’ featured a mock video of jon, hoping to find love on the popular match.com dating website. drawing attention to his ed hardy t-shirt obsession & ridiculous-looking pierced ears, the actor made a pretty funny jon gosselin. and, low and behold, a few days later his ex-bride came out with her own ad! you gotta check them both out below. interested? log onto to match.com today!

the lost tapes

oh james, james franco. after conquering his dreams of acting, he decided to finish up his degree at ucla this past year. you might remember that hysterical picture of the actor completely asleep during one of his classes – it definitely didn’t help the media take his academic endeavors seriously.

however, when it came time to pick the commencement speaker for ucla’s graduation, they overlooked his snoozing and picked mr. franco. he was all ready to go, too, when just two weeks before the big day he had to back out. franco released a statement saying: “i deeply regret not being able to keep my commitment to giving the commencement speech at ucla’s graduation this year. unfortunately the date conflicts with me needing to be on location to begin pre-production on my next film. i wish everyone in the 2009 class the best of luck in all of their future endeavors.”

would he have been any good? now, almost a month later, we know the answer to that question. james partnered up with will ferrell’s genius website ‘funny or die’ to record his would-be commencement speech. so he’s cute AND funny? while he dropped the f* bomb one too many times in my opinion, it still had me laughing. check it out above. ucla seniors of 2009, rest easy knowing you were better off?

men vs wild

the comedic brilliance that is will ferrell spread his wings to tv land this past tuesday night. ferrell’s new movie, ‘land of the lost’ premieres this friday night, and he’s pulling out all the promotional stops. amidst talk shows & various interviews, ferrell did something a bit unconventional.

‘man vs. wild’ star bear grylls invited will to tag along for 48 hours in the arctic circle. and of course, hilarity ensued. take a peak at the teaser for the discovery channel tv special. while it already aired, you can catch the full show on youtube (Men vs Wild Part 1 of 5). this little gimmick proved successful as almost 4 million viewers tuned in.

click here (Land of the Lost Trailer) to see will in action as dr. rick marshall in his upcoming movie.  while it’s definitely looking funny, i’m willing to bet ferrell did this one for the kids.
